To Our Australian Customers – How to Save on Shipping

International shipping is expensive, but there are ways to reduce the cost for those located in Australia. Australia Post’s ShopMate allows you to use a US address for shipping—the larger the order the bigger the savings. We recommend that you combine individual orders into one to save money on costs.

Here is a hypothetical example to illustrate:

Let’s say you have 20 swimmers on your team and the coach asks everyone to order a pair of DragSox. You have three options:

  1. Each person can place an individual order and pay the US Postal Service rate for shipping. This will cost $25.25 per order for shipping or $505 for the 20 individual orders.

    OR

  2. You can combine all individual orders into one order of 20 pairs and use Australia Post’s ShopMate. This will cost about $53.50 for the full order, which equals about $2.67 per DragSox.

    OR

  3. You can combine all individual orders into one order of 20 pairs and use US Postal Service for shipping. This will cost $88.00 or $4.40 per DragSox.

More details about ShopMate prices

By using Australia Post’s ShopMate, you will get a local US address. When you place an order for 20 pairs of DragSox, AquaVolo will charge $15.80 for local US shipping (as of 1/4/16). Once your order arrives to the ShopMate’s US warehouse, Australia Post picks it up and delivers it to the local address in Australia. According to ShopMate’s site, Australia Post will charge 52.65 AUD ($37.69 as of 1/4/16) for this service. The total shipping cost will be $37.69 + $15.80 = $53.49. Since this order contains 20 individual orders, an individual shipping cost will be $53.49 / 20 = $2.67.

Things to keep in mind

Combining individual orders into one bigger order and using Australia Post’s ShopMate requires time and organization. If you are in a rush, then this option might not be for you. The final ShopMate’s price might be slightly different from what we showed above. It depends on the exchange rate and the exact weight of the package but it should still be significantly cheaper than placing individual orders. If you want to reduce shipping cost and you don’t mind combining the orders, then Australia Post’s ShopMate might be a good option for you.
